What is Breast Asymmetry Correction?
Breast asymmetry occurs when the size, shape, or position of your breasts are not in proportion with one another. Breast asymmetry can occur with normal breast development, after significant hormonal changes, with weight fluctuations or following prior breast surgery.
Having a significant difference in breast shape or size can be physically and psychologically challenging. Combining reconstructive and aesthetic techniques to improve breast asymmetry is one of Dr. Somogyi’s areas of expertise.
Who is a Breast Asymmetry procedure right for?
If you’re considering making changes, it is important that any ongoing changes have stabilized. Healing from any previous surgeries must be completed before further surgery to correct asymmetry can be considered. If asymmetry is the result of pregnancy, breastfeeding or weight fluctuations, you will need to have returned to a stable state for 6-12 months before considering asymmetry surgery.
Options for Breast Asymmetry Correction
A comprehensive assessment is required to assess whether the shape, size, position or a combination of these should be addressed when correcting breast asymmetry.
In some cases, where one breast is ideal, surgery is only required on the other breast in order to improve symmetry. In many cases, surgery on both breasts is required.
Breast asymmetry correction looks different for every client. Often, different procedures are performed on each side. Examples of procedures used to improve breast asymmetry include:
- Breast Lift
- Breast Reduction
- Breast Augmentation
- Fat Transfer
- Nipple and Areolar symmetrizing surgery
Recovery from Breast Asymmetry Correction
Recovery from surgery will depend on the specific procedures needed to restore symmetry to your breasts.

Risks of Breast Asymmetry correction surgery
Surgery to correct breast asymmetry is common and extremely rewarding. Physically, breast symmetry can make clothing and bathing suit selection much easier. Psychologically, the confidence that comes with improved breast symmetry can be remarkable. The risk profile for these surgeries are generally low but depend specifically on the procedures selected for optimal results. More details can be found on our specific pages for Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, Breast Reduction and Fat Grafting.
How long will the results last?
Results of surgery can be long lasting and depend on the specifics of your surgery. Maintaining a stable weight and other life changes can affect a lasting outcome.
Cost of Breast Asymmetry Correction Surgery
Dr Somogyi creates each quote to reflect the specific plan for each individual patient. With asymmetry correction, this can be highly variable depending on whether both breasts require surgery, implants are used, etc.
An average range would be $9,000 – $18,000
